Aescripts – Stratify for After Effects is a powerful utility that optimizes layer management. Ascend, Descend, Random, and Sequence are the compensating modes for layer shift. By pressing CTRL/CMD, a user can reverse step directions; by pressing SHIFT, a user can increase offsets by 10 frames; and by pressing ALT, users group layers with color labels and parent chains.

Layer Offset: Users can specify the amount of frame translation available for a given instance of layer creation.

• Ascend/Descend: Alter the position of the layers on the timeline by moving them upwards or downwards.
• Random: Push layers forward in time by a random number of frames to a specified distance.
• Sequence: Resequence layers are picked in the order they were.
• Patterns: Set the offset of layers about the composition’s ordinality (e.g., Offsets to the Right, Left, Up, Down, etc.).

Selection modifiers:

• CTRL/CMD: Change the offset direction to the opposite (descend/ascend/patterns).
• SHIFT: Offset ranges can be raised maxes by 10 frames (descend/ascend/patterns).
• ALT: Set layers for offset direction (descend/ascend/random/sequence).

Sorting Layers:

• Sort layers based on Set Anchor Point, Position, Opacity, and other properties.
• Change layer order randomly.
• Change layer order to backward.
• Sort layers by their type, e.g., cameras, lights, shapes, text, etc.
